Very interesting and enjoyable. Book the through my eyes tour and the mansion tour. Both are well worth the price.

As a lover of my American History I was looking forward to learning more about George Washington and his life at Mt. Vernon. This was my worst experience on a tour ever. As a paying customer for 2 adults I didn’t feel like a valued guest.Touring the house you move from room to room and a different tour guide gives a quick synopsis. The elderly man rushed or group out the door, didn’t allow me to ask a question as I was asking about the stone fireplace and he proceeded to shut the door as I was trying to ask my question and just said it was marble and shut the door in my face. Also he rudely fussed at someone for drinking water in the room. I understand requesting someone not to drink but ground rules were never established prior to entering. We were in the back of the group and by the time we were able to shuffle our way into the next room to join the group, the guide had already started talking so we missed out on things. I know they are working on a schedule and lots of groups coming through, but just waiting an extra minute for everyone to get in would solve the issue. The wharf and gazebo was closed and no one informed us before we rode down on the shuttle down there. Then when we asked if we could ride back to the tomb we were rudely told no because the guy driver had to pick up more people.Everyone at guest services, the women tour guides, and the man at George Washingtons tomb were all lovely and delightful to talk with.
