DoubleTree by Hilton Mangroovy El Gouna Resort

We discovered this new hotel through Voyage Prive and booked a room with a plunge pool view. Upon checking in, we realised we didn't receive the room we had reserved. When we reported this to the receptionist, the evening manager was unhelpful and insisted that according to their system, we were in the correct room, despite us showing her our booking confirmation. She then offered to move us to a plunge pool-view room, but it was further from the main area and more out than our current room. This didn't feel like an upgrade to us and seemed more like an inconvenience, so we decided to leave it as is. This experience with the service was disappointing. On a positive note, the rest of the staff were wonderful, very friendly and eager to help. The restaurant staff stood out as the best, all extremely kind and accommodating. The director of food and beverage was particularly lovely, frequently checking in to see if anyone needed anything. We travelled for my birthday, and several staff members went out of their way to make it special. They decorated our bed during daily servicing, helped my partner book my birthday meal, complete with a surprise cake, and played my favourite music in the courtyard as a lovely serenade. The hotel is very new, so everything feels fresh and well-maintained. The staff consistently pays attention to keeping the areas clean and tidy, especially around the pool and landscaping. Although there is ongoing construction on-site, it didn't disturb us at all with noise. Unfortunately, as it's still a fairly new area, the WIFI is poor and the TV has no streaming apps.

Overall, I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The town of El Gouna is absolutely worth seeing! The lagoons, the beaches, and the town center are all beautiful. If I were to travel to Egypt again, I would always choose El Gouna. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. Even though things didn't always run perfectly smoothly and communication was sometimes difficult, the team always tried their best to find solutions and make our stay as pleasant as possible. One minor point of criticism was that the three of us had to share a double room, which was a bit cramped. Nevertheless, the room was clean, well-maintained, cleaned daily, and stylishly furnished, so we still felt comfortable. A real highlight was the service and the food at the all-inclusive restaurant. The selection was varied, the quality very good, and the staff attentive and courteous – they truly left almost nothing to be desired. Special thanks to Helmy and Wagdy, who became true friends during our two-week stay. The hotel itself impresses with its modern, eco-friendly concept and beautiful decor. The entire complex is very inviting and high-quality, creating a thoroughly pleasant atmosphere. All in all, the positive impressions far outweigh the negative, and I would definitely recommend a stay here.
