Here in this important cultural landmark, you can explore a significant aspect of the history of contemporary Egyptian and Arab literature, one that embodies a legend of defiance. This is Taha Hussein, the dean of Arabic literature and the first Arab writer nominated by academies and educational and cultural institutions for the Nobel Prize. He wasn't nominated just once or twice, but according to the records of the Nobel Prize committee itself, released every half-century, Taha Hussein was nominated fourteen times. His failure to win the prize is a great loss to Nobel, which, unfortunately, did not receive this literary giant who played numerous roles in enriching Arabic literature, particularly in theatrical drama, through his research, studies, and translations. In this museum, visitors can discover previously unknown aspects of Taha Hussein's personal collection, including personal and family photographs, writings, manuscripts, publications, documents, and decisions related to his rich and positive life experience. He became an example for any blind person, someone who, despite his blindness, was able to grasp what many Egyptians could not.
